Fun Little Jam Song from SPCC

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

The other night at St. Paul’s, we rocked out to a funkdified version of What Wondrous Love. This was the acoustic version but it is still pretty rockin’!

Some of the levels are a little out of whack and couldn’t be fixed and although it is not professional quality, it is still worth listening to and perhaps worshipping a little.

Fee BandIts been a couple Mondays since one of these has come up. This week we’ll highlight one of my newer favorite songs. I had never heard the song before prior to Steve (former worship leader at St. Paul’s) played this song during one of the worship sets. Had me crying then, still has me crying to this day. Check his version out on the Worship Music page!

Absolutely phenominal song by Steve Fee called What Else Can I Do?. Definitely worth the check out on iTunes. For those already here, feel free to listen here. I actually loved Steve’s rendition of it that I tweaked some of the levels in the original recording and some of the tones and re-mixed it for you guys here. Not really sure if I am allowed to do that so sorry Steve Fee if that isn’t kosher :)

Enjoy!

Shane and Shane are talented guys that I’m sure we’ve all heard of. They have toured with Crowder and many other top artists out there. There voices are amazing and their music is powerful. Here’s a fun song I’m sure is familiar to most but it is fun to hear again and again.

Enjoy!

And for round two, I know that I’ve already posted on these guys but posting again is necessary. I love Downhere! They absolutely rock out on their tracks then they bring it back in for some quiet medleys. They are certainly a talented group of musicians and praise God in their songs. If you haven’t checked out their website and downloaded their FREE ALBUM!!, then go now. Download Downhere. What’s the worst that could happen. You actually like them??

Here’s another preview!

Joel Augé (pronounced “Oj-hay”) hails from Ontario, Canada, where he serves as a worship leader for The Meeting House family of churches and also runs his own digital marketing company. Although On The Blue marks his solo debut, Augé is not new to Christian music. He has been performing and recording since 1999 with the bands Capstone, Six Days and Hewit.

His free download, Glory, Glory, is a great worship song and while simplistic and light, it rocks out and definitely brings out the worship mentality in you. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Download it before it goes away. The free download is only temporary!

Preview it here or download it up above!

Justin KingThis week brings us an amazing display of guitar skill. Justin King has always amazed me. If you want a true display of an amazing guitarist, watch this video and see for yourself. Absolutely incredible!

However, after further searching for more tunes from King, I came across his music video, “Change.” It’s a mix of pop/rock and crazy guitar riffs. Definitely check the video as it is both fun to watch but amazing to see his fingers go during the instrumental break down.

His solo albums are so difficult to comprehend when you start trying to imagine your fingers moving like his. The skills he possesses far surpass anything I’ve ever seen before and leave me breathless.

Unfortunately, the music wouldn’t upload into my player correctly so you’ll just have to download it below but hopefully you enjoy the tune!

hitman

Movie of the week = Hitman.

I watched it with my roommates the other night, skeptical that it would amount to anything but I was wrong. It reminded me a lot of the Bourne trilogy only with a dark twist. Bourne did not kill people unless necessary. Hitman did. Although the movie was not like the video game where you can reek havoc on any and everyone, it did contain the excessive violence and blood factor that gave it the [R] rating.

I was entertained throughout the movie. The fight scenes were very well choreographed. The cinematography excellent. And the acting was decent as well. There was the classic girl character only without the needless romance portion of the story so no need to worry about distractions there. The story was focused on Hitman and his dilemma of becoming the target of another Hitman.

High energy and entertaining, I recommend it to the Bourne/Matrix trilogy fans, or those looking for a fun action movie to end the day with.

In addition, here’s another great tune for you today! I found her while trying to find another artist in the Starbucks mix. This is definitely one of those songs that gets your shoulders bumping.

It’s a funky soul tune that definitely had me grooving after the first guitar riff started the track off. Some of her other stuff is more R&B/soul for my taste but she is definitely worth checking out.

You can find her here if you want to look her up. Enjoy!

DownhereI haven’t posted in a long time….

Work has been crazy with lots of hours. I’m not complaining because debt is piling up and I need the money. Not to mention, if you’ve read anything about my barista experiences thus far, you can see why I’d enjoy being at work anyways.

To keep things moving here though, I’m starting up a Monday trend for myself. New music and movies on Mondays. I watch a lot of movies and live for music so I figured I’d share it here. Besides, I work at Starbucks and their satellite radio station plays some of the best tunes I’ve heard so far.

New band for the week though – Downhere. Great rock band with awesome lyrics and vocals. Reminds me a little of Fallout Boy and Switchfoot only better and more diverse. Then they transform into a Starfield/Building 429 style. I love them and have them on repeat on my iPod in the car.

They are giving away their album for free here so definitely check them out and see what you think! I don’t know how long they will be doing it so hurry! You don’t want to miss these guys.

Here’s a preview though. This is one of their slower ballads but it rocks me every time!
