What We Think We Are Owed

I’ve been hanging out with and talking alot with a friend of mine. We’ve simply been sharing life together and challenging each other. In only a few months, we’ve had a couple years worth of conversations and have been simply an out for each other in dealing with our struggles.

I am fascinated with this and have been really enjoying it because I have talked with her about struggles that are still very real and painful. I was surprised when I brought this subject up that I started getting choked up, having a hard time explaining my struggles.

The Broken "5"

I don’t know if you can tell or not.

There’s a tear in this $5 bill.

Right above Abe’s head is a piece of tape that wraps around the body of this bill, managing to keep it in tact for just one more day.

The broken 5.

Something that I shouldn’t have in my possession.

Something that I didn’t deserve but was given – gracefully and with joy.

A couple weeks ago I worked up at the Big E. First time for me to go up there so I was excited to see what all the fuss was about. Unfortunately it wasn’t THE Big E but rather a Home Show at the Big E grounds. For those that don’t know, I work part-time for Home Comfort Now, a sunroom and basement refinishing company. It’s a good job that pays my rent each month and has potential for promotions so I’m going to stick around and see where it goes.
